Kunimitsu Ecco Location

Dear people of the internet, I have a confession. I am a cat lady. 100% cat-a-tonic. One of my favorite indie makers - Kunimitsu Nail Potions is a fellow cat-lady and all around animal lover. Of course, when I decided I wanted a custom polish based on my precious kitty Ecco, she was first in line. It was a very positive experience! I was a total spaz in asking for a custom and she walked me through it. I gave her a general idea, a picture and description of my precious babylove, and a really long ridiculous Facebook PM. She said she'd have a prototype to me in 7 to 10 days and we could adjust from there. Of course, last minute she had a freaking AWESOME idea and we went with that. I ended up with two polishes - one named after my kitty: Ecco Location. Because PUNS!

Kunimitsu Nail Potions Seal Point Siamese

After the barrage of nail mail that arrived, I have been dying to wear all of the colors ever. Here is another of the Kunimitsu Nail Potions that I bought during her free shipping sale (it's still going on, too!) This is Seal Point Siamese. I'm a little biased towards cat-themed polishes because of my supreme cat-lady repertoire. I'm drawn to this polish because of the history of phenomenal crelly-formula goodness and the fantastic mix of microglitters. Onward to photos!

Seal Point Siamese is a mixture of extra tiny turquoise holographic blue glitters, and different sizes of midnight blue matte glitters. It's ultra classy, and the formula was drool-worthy. I used three coats to opacity, but I probably could have stopped at two. This polish was extra easy to control - I had zero problems with it whatsoever. 

My poor pinkie is still rebelling - ignore him. 

Fantastic glitter coverage - I could just spread it right on there. It was self-leveling too! And opaque without being a THHIIIIICK layer of polish. Did I mention I love this formula?

Here is a close up! Notice how there isn't even any bubbling! And the distribution of the glitter! 

And like all white crellies, I have to matte them. And this guy is NO exception to the gorgeousity of matted white crellies with microglitters. Seriously, this polish is going to be my go-to for any time that I wear blue. It can go with ANYTHING! And the white is actually WHITE - cool toned for pale people like ME!

Kunimitsu Nail Potions Lucky Goldfish

If there is one thing that I can appreciate above all others when purchasing from an indie maker, it is phenomenal formula. Seriously - it can be as sexy as Joseph Gordon-Levitt in a tailored suit, but if the formula sucks I'm not going to deal with it. Kunimitsu Nail Potions has so far had formula so good that I'm always making odd noises and muttering about buttery goodness. This polish of hers is no exception! Lucky Goldfish is a hurr-iffic cerulean blue jelly with tiny orange hexes and orange microfine glitters. It reminds me of the goldfish that my sister got from a pet store and how it seriously lived longer than it probably should have. Defied all laws of nature, that fish. 

This is two coats of Lucky Goldfish. I already mentioned the glorious glorious 3-free formula. It took two thicker coats to obliterate my VNL, as is the glory of a jelly formula. If I used thinner coats, I'd probably need three. It's not lumpy and it only needs one layer of top coat. Also - look how awesomely distributed that glitter is on my nail. Awesome. AWESOME. 

I had some slight bubbling, which I'm mildly obsessive about. It's totally fine, and it's probably because I got them out of the mail and immediately went to shaking and examining the bottles. And then the true ruler of the house played with them. Here is a pretty shot of the formula.

Please forgive my stupid pinkie nail. He's stupid. I'm also not sure if he used to be a she. I don't really care about the gender of my pinkie nail, it drives me nuts regardless. 

And time to get my matte on.

As usual, this is totally awesome. It's gorgeous and deep and like looking into a pond full of fish. But only orange fish and there are a lot of them.

Kunimitsu Nail Potions Love is a Kitten

WHEW! PSA readers: I'm now a Master. Great. My family has come and gone and now I can get back to things like polishing my nails nightly. Tonight I have Kunimitsu Nail Potions, which I have added faithfully to my Etsy registry (I'm marrying myself in November 2015. Save the date!) FOREVER. Well, this year I had a kind of amazing birthday and my good indie-a-holic Michelle over at Late Night Lacquer mailed me a birthday package of exceptional oozing awesome. One of the polishes was Love is a Kitten. I am a proud momma to my preciousbabykittylovekins Ecco and I adore all of the polish in the Kunimitsu Nail Potions shop. Especially the cat themed ones. I was super excited to FINALLY get my mitts on one! Ready for some pictures?!

Here is an awesome bottle shot! So - here we have snow white crelly with itty bitty fuchsia hexes, matte black glitters of tiny and super tiny varieties, and OF COURSE itsybitytinywiny holographic glitters. SCORE! Logically, I knew the first thing I needed to do was put on two coats of polish. And I knew I needed to do it in 15 minutes yesterday because I was on my way out the door for that important thing called GRADUATION. I lobbed that stuff on super fast, threw on some Poshe and ran out the door.  

It's almost been 48 hours since then! And I finally got around to getting pictures. Yes yes, shame on me. Needless to say, the formula was pretty dang awesome. For only two coats I didn't have any real balding or thin spots. I probably should have used three for opacity's sake, but a lady's got to walk across a stage and shake hands with some person called "The Dean." But check out that glitter variety! And ease of glitter placement! It just flowed right on the nail. Fantastic formula. Mmph. Oh - I should also mention that it's 3-free. 

Here we go. Looking nice now! GAH. Except for Janky Pinkie. Oh lawdy - what are you DOING?! We'll tuck you away now.

One more for good measure. Also - after a whole 48 hours which included being paraded around the boiling heat of Texas while dressed in 27 recycled plastic bottles (really) made into a black Masters robe and full regalia while clutching a mortar board to my head in gusty winds..... and a night of opening gifts and writing thank you notes.... the wear is pretty good for a polish peeler like me.

And of course, it's not a party with out a matte top coat Digital Nails Mattematical. While it's not all OOOHHH GURGLY GURGLY DEPTH, I think that mattefying this lady gives it a really nice, soft, sweet touch. Like kitties. What kitties are super shiny, any way?
